From Parisian Couture to Designers @ Dunnes.
Check Coat From Peter O’Brien at Dunnes Stores
Dunnes Stores held a stylish fashion show for their coveted designer Peter O’Brien in their Grafton Street Store. An interesting audience of well-known models, stylists and PR gurus attended and we all enjoyed the evening. Peter is a very low-key designer with a haute couture CV having designed for the glitterati of Europe at the House of Rochas in Paris. He is self-deprecating and very down to earth -like his gorgeous clothes at Dunnes Stores. He was probably the first designer to team a silk taffeta ballgown skirt with a simple knitted cropped cashmere jumper. It looked amazing. Style and balance in equal measure.
I was reading his interview with Deirdre McQuillan in the Irish Times magazine and I think he made a lot of sense when he said about highly sexualised red-carpet divas who wear necklines that are cut down to their waists and are slit up to the thigh: “The notion of wearing a dress with as little as possible! Is being almost naked about empowerment ?(female) None of the male actors walk down the red carpet with their butts out.” I think he has a point as our teenage girls are so influenced by these images and a trashy Kardashian notion of style. Here’s to Dunnes Stores for signing him up!
